Attack 09
Well the show has finished and it was a successful first run out for Colonial Games. There we were at a Historical Wargames show and what was our best seller??? Hasslefree Fantasy Miniatures!! Go Figure.
Anyway, after lunch on Sunday, the CG Team decided to put on their own impromptu demonstration game. The Okko board was broken out and a game rapidly started. I have to say that Okko is a really nice little game. The rules are straight forward and therefore easy to pick up. Anyway, the final game of the day saw our illustrious Games Designer backed into a corner and taken apart by a rather nasty Demon team.
The force for good in the Okko world (my team) swooped across the gardens and attempted to rip apart the demon team in an effort to save the beleagured forces in the corner. This almighty assault started out well but sort of faded away as my strongest character got royally owned by a hulking great demon (not before he managed to survive a sneaky ambush attempt and slapped the nasty demonette down).
There were some major heroics as the remnants of the neutral team along with the remnants of the good team, battled the forces of darkness. Some notable mentions must go to the good force Samurai, who managed to take down the evil big Demon Beastie in a very convincing way. However, major Kudos and legendary hero status must go the the Neutral teams Geisha. A small and rather weak character who not only survived the game when greater warriors fell, but managed to attack several nasty ninja and vampire type thingumabobs and not only survive the encounter, but managed to drive them off.
All hail the mighty Japanese Lady of the Night :)
Anyway, go to the web site and have a look at Okko. The board game is exquisite and the miniatures that you can buy to go with it are absolutely amazing.
Have a good week.

Attack! '09
Well, it's that time of year, and Devizes District Wargaming Group is winding up for another spectacular 'Attack' event, this one rather imaginatively titled 'Attack '09'. Short and to the point, like Jeremy Paxman and a 'little person's' offspring. Anyway, we'll be going. We'll be taking a variety of our stock (although obviously not all of it, we don't have a lorry to carry it in), including Hinchcliffe (woo!), Okko (aah!), Avatars of War (eee!) and Hasslefree (uuu?!). We aren't just there for selling stuff though, we'll also have our design manager James there, with a selection of his golden demon winning models for you to drool over, and he is rumoured to be bringing two very exciting new Colonial Games produced products with him (we haven't seen him for days, he's been up at all hours though, judging by when he sends us email updates, and phones us!).
These sneak peeks won't be obvious when you approach the stand, so if you want to know more, then ask him or one of the other staff, and they'll be more than happy to wax lyrical and show you :)
We can't wait to meet you there, so come and say hi! We love to be able to put faces to our customers.

Wings of War
Woah! this is cool! A couple of us are loving wings of war at the minute. It's a slick tabletop game that's sort of a mix of miniature and card games that recreates dogfights from ww1. It's particularly cool, because the cards allow you to pull cool manouvers, and the adjustable stands mean that it truly is a 3D experience. One other thing to mention is the game mats. They are made of this heavy rubber like stuff which is tough and durable as nails, and forms a lovely detailed ready-made battlefield to fight over. Awesome! Although we haven't played the expansions (yet), they're up too, we live in faith that they will be as good as the original!
As ever, because we are loving it, we try to supply it, and so check out the wings of war section under fantasy flight games, which in turn is under the historical miniatures section of our online store. Failing that of course, you could always click here.
If that isn't your cup of tea though, you can always sign up or log into the site, rate a few things you have and like, and then see what sort of things that other gamers with similar rating profiles enjoyed in the 'suggestions' box on the right hand side. You never know, it could be the start of something huge!
Who we are
So we should probably introduce ourselves properly. We are a company set up to do two things. The first is to sell the best hobby products from one convenient place - our website and the shows we attend. Well actually, that's more like two places, but hey. We never much liked having to hunt around dozens of different websites to feed our hobby, so we figured we'd do something about that. We're not quite there yet, although we already offer a much wider range than some other retailers. That'll grow as fast as we can add products to the site, and as fast as we can agree deals to supply you with the best, coolest or most useful products we can find. Trust us, there are some pretty exciting lines to be added in the coming months!
The second thing that we wanted to do when the company was established was to publish a line of really cool hobby products. There are so many wonderful ideas and talent out there, it will be a real kick to put some of it to good use. We could have just thrown some cash at a miniatures line or boardgame, but instead we shall be using the profits from www.colonialgames.co.uk to publish a range of products that totally rock. In the short term, we're nearly done with a guide to expertly painting miniatures called the 'Artist's Toolkit'. That's due to be published around the end of the month, and pre-orders will be taken from the 19th at 'Attack! '09'. A couple of artists are beavering away at some artwork for two wonderful card games, and we have a rather exciting tabletop skirmish game and RPG in development. Really exciting stuff! like a kids in a sweet shop, we'd really like to tell you about them right now, but we'll be all grown up and wait.
Anyway, that's all for now, Game on!
